Those Words That Echo . . . Echo . . . Echo Through Life
How spirit-filled this article was for me - I thoroughly enjoyed reading, wrapping my mind and imagination around it. It was like a clipping of this written was taken right from the fabric of soul. There were so many writers to choose from and when I have a vast of choices before me, choosing becomes an eternity. I can't rightly say why I clicked on this writer/author when there were so many choices before me but after much pondering, I gravitated to Ms. Kincaid. I now I have my answer as to why; all gardening minds think alike. She is an avid gardener and so am I.
I discovered this little known fact after reading her Bio three to four days later and this is when it all came together. Actually, while reading her story, it touched home so deeply, it made me chuckle and feel like a human; "yes", all these emotions folded up together. Ms. Kincaid's (1999) writes,
How do I write? Why do I write? What do I write? This is what
I am writing: I am writing "Mr. Potter." It begins in this way; this
is its first sentence: "Mr. Potter was my father, my father's name was Mr.
Potter." So much went into that one sentence; much happened before I
settled on those 11 word. (http://www.nytimes.com/library/books/060799kincaid-writing.html)
This paragraph alone could win an Award in terms of what goes through the minds of writers in training - like myself. Now, I can honestly coin the phrase "most writers think alike". I would have never imagined seasoned writers as Ms. Kincaid having to fumble and jumble words around to come up with that semi-perfect opening but this wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong. I will say this, I now have a pure sense of security knowing that I'm not alone when it comes to indecisiveness and trying to create an opening for any form of writing.
Social Media writing like any other writing (which I'm sure some will beg to differ) should take on the same rules and regulations
that are spelled out in SPJ. As with the Tracy Morgan story, where is the good taste in that clipping? After reading Ms. Kincaid's article, I can forge ahead with the wealth of knowledge I have gained thru this course with ease knowing pondering is okay, humility is even better because there are great writers out there who put on their skirts the same way I do.
